Bold Motive Group

Built with intention.Made to endure.

Bold Motive Group is a software studio. We craft web and mobile products for the people who commission them, and in the quieter hours, we build a few of our own.

From the founder

Emily Mendez

Founder & Principal

I founded Bold Motive Group on a simple belief: software, like anything worth keeping, should be made with care.

Every project the studio takes on passes through my hands. I'm your first call, your point of contact, and the person accountable for what we deliver. I keep the studio deliberately small so that promise stays true.

When a project calls for more, I bring in a close circle of engineers and designers I trust, and I stay at the table from the first conversation to the final release.

The practice

Two pursuits, one standard

I · For our clients

Commissioned work

Web and mobile products shaped around your vision. We design with restraint, build with precision, and deliver software that feels inevitable once it exists.

II · Of our own making

Studio ventures

Between commissions, we follow our own curiosities. Some become experiments. Some become products. A rare few become something we didn't expect.

“Everything enduring began as a bold motive.”

For nonprofits

The nonprofit promise

Organizations doing good work deserve good work in return. Registered nonprofits receive 15% off every engagement, up to $5,000, guaranteed.

  • Payment schedules shaped around your grant cycles
  • A written scope and budget you can include in funding applications

Open to 501(c)(3) organizations, fiscally sponsored projects, schools, public libraries, and registered charities outside the US.

Every engagement begins with a complimentary consultation, followed by a written proposal with phased pricing, so you always know what the next step costs. Ongoing care and maintenance plans are available after launch.

Book a consultation

The process

How the work unfolds

From the first conversation to the years after launch, here is exactly what to expect. No surprises, and nothing begins without your approval.

  1. I

    Consultation

A complimentary 45-minute video meeting with me. Bring your idea, who it's for, and when you need it. I'll listen, ask questions, and help the real problem come into focus.

    You receive
A candid read on what's possible, what it might involve, and a rough sense of budget. No obligation.
    Timing
    45 minutes
  2. II

    Proposal

I turn our conversation into a written plan. Pricing is phased: a fixed price for design, with an honest estimate for the build. Once the design is approved, the build estimate becomes a fixed price.

    You receive
A written scope, timeline, and price. Nonprofits also receive a funder-ready budget for grant applications.
    Timing
Within 7 days of our call
  3. III

    Design

We shape how your product looks, feels, and flows. You review clickable prototypes and we refine them together before a single line of production code is written.

    You receive
Approved designs and a fixed price for the build.
    Timing
1 to 4 weeks, depending on scope
  4. IV

    Build

Your product comes to life in short cycles. You see working progress every week and can click through it yourself. If the scope changes, I'll price the change in writing before any work begins.

    You receive
Weekly progress updates and a working product you can test along the way.
    Timing
Varies by tier; see the guide above
  5. V

    Launch

We test thoroughly, deploy with care, and release your product to the world. Every account, credential, and line of code is handed to you.

    You receive
A live product, full ownership, and clear documentation.
    Timing
    About 1 week
  6. VI

    Care

The work doesn't end at launch. An optional care plan keeps your product secure, up to date, and improving as your needs grow.

    You receive
Maintenance, monitoring, and a partner who already knows your product.
    Timing
    Ongoing, month to month
